Salvador Embalo Tchando: Untjam (1992 Guinea Bissau)

  • Salvador Embalo Tchando comes from a small country on the West coast of Africa, named Guinea-Bissau, in the town of Bafata. As a child, he learned to play different instruments as "mola"and "hoddo" - two and three string guitars - and drums of different varieties. At the age of 14, he moved on to the city, Bissau, where he learned to play the six string guitar. In 1982, Tchando moved to Portugal, where he started his professional career. For three years, Tchando worked as a session musicians in Paris where he played and recorded with a number of artists, among others, Kaba Mane, with whom he recorded and produced two albums and toured all of Europe. Today, based in Denmark, Tchando performs with a growing community of musicians who have taken interest in African Music. He participated in Hanne Boel's top selling rock album, "Dark Passion".
