"Tunisia", was picked up by small radio stations in Europe and Tunisia, and when the Jasmine Revolution erupted in Tunisia and later in the rest of the Middle East, Bezalel's song became a glimmer of hope for Arab nations that hungered for freedom, not ever knowing it's by an Israeli artist. After that, the music video was broadcasted on Al Jazeera and Palestine T.V. and the story was told. Bezalel's song then gained popularity even outside the Arab world proving music has its own rhythm. Since then, local producers in Tunisia have invited Bezalel to perform in the country that embraced him so closely during a moment of turmoil, all the while ignoring his background.
Bezalel, was born to strict, orthodox Jewish parents who had fled to Israel amidst the 1952 Tunisian riots. At age 10 he joined the group "Flowers of Jerusalem" and toured France with the group. At age 12 he was removed from the group due to his voice change. Then he started to write lyrics and compose pop songs secretly after school.
At age 21, after his military service, he moved to N.Y.C and started performing in Manhattan's gay bars and gained some popularity there. On 2006 Bezalel moved to Milan, Italy and released the dance tune "Into My Life" that charted on the IDN chart and climbed to number 6.Deciding to follow his roots through his music for the first time, Bezalel returned to Israel and wrote "Tunisia"; an autobiographical homage to his journey and struggle.
